Baden is a historic town and a health resort with traditions dating back to Roman times. It has a preserved old town with many beautiful buildings and some interesting museums.

The Romans already knew the sulfuric hot springs in Baden. The town was then called Acquae Helveticae and was known for the beneficial effects of the waters. It was reborn as a health resort in the 18th century. There are a dozen or so springs here, with a temperature of 47 degrees Celsius. They are the strongest sulphated waters in Switzerland. The spa district is quiet and green. Many of the local buildings date from the 18th and 19th centuries. There are public thermal baths, and the resorts offer a wide range of spa and wellness facilities.

The character of the old town of Baden is completely different from the quiet atmosphere of the spa area. It was established in the 13th century and has kept its historical layout. The remains of the city walls with the city tower, which is the symbol of the city, have survived. There are also many half-timbered houses and the historic church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The attractions of Baden are the local museums. One of the most famous is the Swiss Children's Museum, where you can see toys that have accompanied the youngest in the last 300 years. The Teddy Bear Museum in Baden is also related to the subject of children. The Electric Museum has an interesting collection, presenting old machines and devices used in houses and factories.
