Premià de Mar is a tourist destination on the Costa Brava. There is a sandy beach and a port with a marina and good catering facilities.
The city was founded on the site of a Roman settlement. Items found during archaeological excavations can be viewed at the Premià de Mar Roman Museum. Most of the older buildings, however, come mainly from the 18th and 19th centuries, when the city was developing as a textile production center. You can learn about the traditions of this industry at the Premià de Mar Museum of Textile Printing.
Today, Premià de Mar is, on the one hand, a seaside resort with numerous hotels and holiday apartments, and on the other hand, accommodation facilities for nearby Barcelona. Along the shore is Bellmar Beach, which is the biggest attraction in Premià de Mar. There is also the modern port, Marina Premia, with places for yachts and boats that call here on cruises in the Mediterranean Sea.
