Font Magica is a complex of fountains at the foot of Montjuic. This is a place where the show of light, water and sound takes place. To the sounds of famous musical pieces, you can admire the spectacular spectacle, whose actors are light and water, moving in perfectly directed sequences.
During the music show, streams of variable pressure flow out of hundreds of fountain jets, creating spatial elements and figures. The relevant groups of water jets are highlighted by changing lights of different colors.
Font Magica was built in 1929 and was designed by Carles Buigas. It was one of the attractions of the World Exposition EXPO taking place in Barcelona at the time. Unfortunately, during the Spanish Civil War it was destroyed and was not used until 1955. Initially, music was not part of the show, it was only added in the 1980s. Currently you can see 15 performances based on different types of music.
