El Masnou is a city in the greater Barcelona area situated on the coast with access to the beaches. It is located on the site of a settlement from the Roman period, and in the center has a nice, mainly 18th and 19th century buildings.
The city is currently developing mainly as a tourist center and accommodation facilities for people working in Barcelona. There is Port Masnou with a marina and promenade, as well as a lively center with many cafes, bars and restaurants.
There are several interesting museums in El Masnou, headed by the City Museum in Nautica del Masnou. It presents rich collections related to the sea, navigation and shipbuilding. There is also the Koplani Woda Interpretation Center and the private Museum of Pharmacy.
The main attractions of El Masnou are the local beaches. The most famous are Poniente Beach and Ocata Beach. They are partially developed with the possibility of renting sun loungers and umbrellas. There are also dining and entertainment facilities nearby.
