Collbató is a village on the southern slopes of Montserrat. Its main attractions focus on the slopes of this extraordinary mountain range, on which the Montserrat Abbey is located.
Montserrat is a massif of deeply eroded rocks that form fanciful crags, ridges and outliers. Montserrat Abbey stands on a rock ledge on the slope, and the whole area is full of scenic trails, caves and small chapels.
The southern slopes of the massif belong to the village of Collbato. There is also the Montserrat-Monestir railway station. There are several other funiculars at the top, the La Santa Cova Cable Car and the Sant Joan Cable Car. You can get there to the higher rock ledges along which there are walking routes, incl. to the Sant Joan Hermitage and the Sant Onofre Desert.
The highest peak of the Montserrat massif is Sant Jeroni reaching 1237 m above sea level. The route to Sant Jeroni leads to it, and from the top there are beautiful views. On the southern slopes there is also the Route to Creu de Sant Miquel and the Road to the San Juan hermitage. A big attraction offering beautiful views is the observation deck of the Holy Cross. Michael.
