Procida is one of the islands of the Gulf of Naples. Less known than Capri or Ischia, it has retained the charm of fishing towns and is still not trampled by the crowds of tourists. It offers beautiful views of Mount Vesuvius and pleasant beaches with crystal clear waters.
The best way to get to the island is by ferry from Naples. They arrive at Marina Grande, where the most bars, restaurants and cafes are concentrated. However, there are more ports in Procida. It is primarily the extremely picturesque Marina Corricella with colorful houses facing the sea, as well as Marina Chiaiolella and Marina di Procida. In all of them you can see fishing boats swaying on the waves. Many of them are currently rented for cruises lasting several hours along the coast.
The main attraction of Procida are the local beaches. Many of them are hidden in small coves. Some offer a nice view of Naples and Mount Vesuvius, while others you can see, among others, the nearby island of Capri. The most popular beaches in Procida are Chiaia Beach, Ciraccio Beach, Lingua Beach and Chiaiolella Beach.
The towns of Procida have the unique charm of ancient Italy before the great tourist boom. You can still find simple family restaurants serving fresh fish and seafood dishes. Hidden among the cobbled streets and squares are historic churches such as the Church of Santa Margherita Nuova, Church of San Leonardo Procida, and the Sanctuary of St. Józef, and the Mycenaean Museum has interesting collections.
