Nepi is a city known all over Italy for its mined and bottled mineral waters that can be bought all over the country. In its center, a lot of historic buildings have been preserved, including the monumental Borgia Castle.
The settlement of Nepia already existed in Etruscan times. the local catacombs come from the 9th century BC, and the remains of Roman temples were used to build medieval churches. Within the old town, you can see, among others The 12th-century cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, rebuilt many times. However, the greatest attraction of Nepi and a valuable monument of military art is the Borgia Castle, which was owned for some time by the famous Lucrezia Borgia. Its massive walls and towers stand out in the city skyline, and the interiors are open to the public.
The city center with its historic, elegant buildings invites you to stroll along cobbled streets with Renaissance and Baroque city palaces and tenement houses. Currently, many of them have restaurants and cafes, and in the squares you can rest at tables set up and shaded by umbrellas.
An important building and attraction of Nepi is the aqueduct that brought water to the city. It was fed by mineral springs that bring the city fame throughout Italy to this day.
