The sacred building, founded by Pope Sixtus IV, was built in the years 1475-1483. She owes fame to the frescoes of Michelangelo, which cover the vault (biblical history of humanity from the creation of the world to the flood) and the wall in front of the main entrance ("The Last Judgment").
