Civitavecchia is a coastal town just outside Rome. The port of the Italian capital is located here, and there are also many nice beaches in the area.
The city has a history dating back to ancient times, and items found during excavations in the area have been collected at the National Archaeological Museum. The most famous monument in Civitavecchia is Fort Michelangelo, built in the 16th century. It defended the then port against attack from the sea.
The attractions of Civitavecchia also include the local thermal waters, which are used in the Ficoncella Baths. The city also has many walking areas, including the seaside boulevard leading to the port.
