Casamicciola Terme is a holiday village and thermal spa in Ischia. The local hot springs have been known since ancient times and are now used in several bathing areas.
The town was known already in Roman times, and in the Middle Ages the inhabitants of Naples came here to count various ailments with thermal waters. The buildings in the town with thermal baths and guest houses were destroyed in 1883 during the great earthquake. After this cataclysm, the city was moved closer to the coast and it also became a popular seaside resort. The last major earthquake in this area was recorded in 2017.
The center of Casamicciola Terme is built up with houses from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. There are a lot of neoclassical and Art Nouveau villas, city residences and guesthouses. The Marina Square with a fountain and pine trees that provide shade in the heat has a lot of charm. There are numerous shops, restaurants and bars along the promenade. The Promenade Via Marina in Nocturne is also a great place for walks. In the coastal part of the town there is the Casamicciola harbor, from which ferries, tourist boats and numerous fishing boats depart.
Casamicciola Terme combines the attractions of a seaside bath and a thermal spa. There are sandy, though quite narrow beaches with good facilities. You can also take advantage of the offer of thermal baths, such as the Castiglione Baths, the O Vagnitiello Baths or the Belliazzi Baths.
