Dětenice is a small town with a history dating back to the 11th century. There is a baroque chateau surrounded by a park, where you can visit a brewery, a vineyard and enjoy numerous family attractions in addition to exploring the interior.
The village was probably founded by Brzetysław in the first century in the 11th century. It was a trade and craft settlement, and with time a Gothic castle was built here. At that time, the town began to play a servant role in relation to him, being a base for his livelihood.
Dětenice Castle has been rebuilt many times throughout its history. From a medieval stronghold it became a Renaissance defensive residence, and then a late baroque palace. Around it, a large park with French gardens and a semi-wild landscape was established.
Currently, the castle is the main attraction of Dětenice. In addition to the rooms open to the public, which have preserved decorations from various eras, mainly baroque furnishings and hunting, military and art collections, you can also take advantage of other castle attractions. There is a private brewery with a small beer museum, a vineyard with a winery, and special sightseeing programs with the possibility of becoming a knight for children.
