Koprivsztica is a small, historic town sometimes called an open-air museum or a living museum. The original urban layout and traditional houses from the period of the Bulgarian National Revival have been preserved here and are open to the public.
The shepherd settlement of Koprivsztica was established during the Turkish occupation, and in the 19th century it became the center of the Bulgarian national liberation movement. The heroes of the fight against the Turks, Teodor Kableszkow and Georgi Benkowski, and the poet Dimczo Debelianow, came from here.
The main attraction of Koprivsztica is the preserved 19th century layout of buildings and the characteristic stone and wooden houses covered with tiles, with carved balconies and window frames. In many of them you can see the original interior design and souvenirs of former residents. The most important ones include the Georgian Benkowski Museum, the Dimcho Bedelyanov Museum, the February Museum, the Lyuben Karavelov Museum, the Oslek Museum and the Garkov House.
In addition to residential buildings, the Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas and the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
