Koprivshtitsa

Surrounded by a mountain range, the historic city has the status of an architectural and historical reserve. Over 380 architectural monuments from the time of the Bulgarian National Revival in the 19th century have been preserved there. Most of them have been restored to their original appearance.

There are 6 museums in the city, where you can see numerous ethnographic exhibits, collections of old weapons, jewelry and traditional embroidery. There are museums devoted to the works of Dimczo Debelanow and Luben Karawełow. During the walk, it is worth paying attention to the stone bridge on which the first shot was fired that started the Bulgarian uprising against the Ottoman Empire in April 1876. There is also an ossary where fallen insurgents are buried.

There are over 40 fountains in the city, some of which have retained their decorative stone facades. The most important ones are: Kerekova built in 1751, Mirchova from 1857 and Moravenova unveiled in 1843.
