Eben am Achensee is an Alpine holiday resort located in the picturesque mountain valley. Its biggest attraction is the lake sometimes called the Tyrolean Sea, which is conducive to recreation and is a place of summer recreation for Austrians.
Thanks to its location in a mountain valley, the bottom of which is filled by a lake, Eben am Achensee is a very popular summer resort. In the vicinity of the village there are several dozen kilometers of walking and cycling routes, which are conducive to active recreation. The purpose of the excursions is the small Karwendel chain and the Rofel mountain, which is reached by a cable car. At the top there is the Adlerhorst observation deck allowing a panoramic view of the valley.
However, the biggest attraction of the village is the Achensee lake. On its shores there are numerous beaches, including the most famous Buchau. There are also designated bathing spots, which in the summer fill up with swimming enthusiasts. Cruise ships run on the lake, you can also go canoeing and sailing.
For the Austrians, Eben am Achensee is also an important pilgrimage site. There is a pilgrimage church in which relics of St. Notburgi, an Austrian saint living in the Middle Ages, patron of farmers. In addition to the church in the village you can see the modern museum of St. Notburgi, which is the only museum in Austria devoted entirely to one saint.
