Lungern is a holiday village in the Alps on Lake Lungerer. Its surroundings are conducive to active recreation, there are many hiking trails here. The lake allows you to practice water sports.
The town occupies the highest part of the Sarneraa valley and rises towards the Brünig Pass. In summer, in its surroundings, you can take advantage of numerous hiking and biking trails, as well as educational paths designed to learn about the life of the forest. A very popular route leads around Lake Lungerer and to the Chäppeli inn with a game park.
In summer, Lake Lungerer is one of Lungern's biggest attractions. There are two guarded bathing areas, Lungern and Burglen. The water, which heats up to 23 degrees Celsius, encourages you to take a bath. You can also use the slide and water equipment rental.
In winter, there are many cross-country skiing trails nearby. On the other hand, in the nearby ski resorts of Mörlialp, Melchsee-Frutt and Hasliberg, you can enjoy ski and snowboard slopes. There is also a toboggan run, and some hiking trails are open to winter hikers, including snowshoe hikes.
