SPIŠSKÁ BELÁ tourist attractions

+1 attraction

Biała Spiska is a town beautifully situated between the Bialskie Tatras and the Lewocki Mountains. A lot of monuments from different eras have been preserved here, and the town is also a good starting point for mountain hiking enthusiasts.

The town was founded on the Hungarian border guard. It is the memory of the present-day Strazki district. One of the most important attractions of Biała Spiska, a jewel of Renaissance defensive structures, is located here, the Strážky Manor House.

In the period from the 15th to the second half of the 18th century, Biała Spiska was ruled by Poles. As a result of the so-called Spiš pledge, Sigismund of Luxemburg handed over the management of a dozen or so Spiš towns to Poland in exchange for a large loan of money. Trade and crafts flourished in the town under Polish administration. At that time, several churches were built that have survived to this day. These include church of st. Anna and the Renaissance belfry from the end of the 16th century. Among the most valuable monuments and historical attractions of Biała Spiska is also the 13th century church of St. Antoni Pustelnik.
