Roman is a city that in the past was one of the seats of the princes of Moldova, and today is an important industrial center of the region. Its buildings are mainly contemporary, but there are several preserved historic churches and public buildings.
The history of the city begins in the Middle Ages, when Moldova's hospods had one of their seats here. After the two fortresses they had built on the bank of the Seret River, no trace was left, but Roman still functions as an important administrative center in the minds of Roman.
The center of the city stands out clearly from the modern buildings. You can find some interesting buildings here, such as the Church of St. Teresa , the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit , the White Church. The picturesque Precista Mare Church is situated on a hill outside the city center.
You can learn about the history of the area by visiting the History Museum located in the building from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. There is also a small Art Museum with a collection of paintings and sculptures by artists associated with Moldova. Roman attractions also include the picturesque City Park with a pond and picnic areas.
