The cathedral was built in the 19th century. Its eclectic architecture is clearly inspired by the Italian Renaissance style, but you can also see neoclassical and neo-baroque elements. Inside, it is worth paying attention to the paintings by Tattarescu, which combine Romanian tradition with Western influences, especially Italian painting.
The cathedral was built on a rectangular plan measuring 56 m in length and 34 m in width. At its corners there are four towers with a height reaching 52 m.
