Moroeni is a tourist village at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains. It is primarily a starting point for mountain hiking, and in winter it is a base for skiers using the surrounding slopes.
The mountains above Moroeni are under the protection of the Bucegi Nature Park . They are alpine mountains, but with flat plateaus and fanciful rock formations. The most famous and at the same time the greatest attractions of Moroeni include the rock formations of the Sphinx and Babele .
The main ridge of Bucegi Mountains can be reached on foot along steep paths and two cable cars, funicular Pestera and the cable car to Babele . in the vicinity of the rocks there is a Babele Chalet .
The Horoabei Valley is a well-known excursion site where you can admire the steep rock walls. Attractions in the Moroeni area also include the Lalomita Cave and the monastery at its entrance. The underground corridors are over 400 m long and have a rich dripstone form. In turn, a popular place to rest is the nearby Bolboci Lake with grassy beaches.
