Cittadella

A small citadel built in the 17th century on the site of earlier fortifications by the Knights of St. John. It stands on a hill in a place where a defensive settlement existed already in ancient times. Fully preserved fortifications consist of defensive walls as well as bastions and supergars. Inside the walls is the Old Town with a kaetedra and several chapels and a 16th-century court and prison building. There are three museums here, archaeological, natural history and folklore.
