Old Prison

The old prison is adjacent to the courts of the Gozo Citadel. Today's entrance hall served as a communal cell in the nineteenth century, and now houses a permanent exhibition of fortifications. A separate block of six individual cells constitutes the remainder of the prison, which was in use from the mid-sixteenth century to the beginning of the twentieth century.
