Ta 'Kola Windmill is a wind mill in the village of Xaghra, built in 1725. Since 1992 it houses a museum. The structure, typical of Maltese mills, consists of a centrally round tower with wings and a solid four-sided base, in which utility rooms and a miller's apartment are located. There are no typically museum exhibitions here - the museum is based on careful interior reconstructions and furnishings.
In addition to milling accessories, tools for wood and metal processing are presented, including a forge furnace equipped with manual bellows. In the museum we can also see a traditional 18th-century kitchen with equipment, a bedroom and a weaving workshop. Of course, the most interesting part of the exhibition is the windmill itself and the opportunity to familiarize yourself with its mechanism.
Careful reconstruction and antique equipment allow you to imagine the lives of millers and their families from several hundred years ago. The source of knowledge about viewed interiors and objects are discretely placed multimedia kiosks.
