Landsberg am Lech is a historic town with a nice old town with baroque buildings and remains of fortifications.

The city was founded in the 12th century and initially it was mainly a commercial center. Over time, salt was mined in its vicinity, which contributed to a significant increase in its importance and wealth. Thanks to high income, Landsberg am Lech grew and in the 15th century it was surrounded by defensive walls. Over time, more rings and reinforcements were added to them along with changing siege techniques. Fragments of the city walls and several gates, including the most important, richly decorated Bayetor, have survived to this day.

The Lech Center has kept its medieval layout. At the market square you can see tenement houses built from the 15th century. Many of them have ornate facades. The baroque town hall, decorated with paintings and bas-reliefs, stands out. Also noteworthy are the historic churches, the originally Gothic church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, but with valuable baroque interiors, the baroque church of St. John and the Church of St. Cross.
