Schaffhausen is a historic town in the Rhine bend, with the picturesque old town preserved and the Munot Fortress towering above it. It is surrounded by vineyards with tasting offers, and cruise ships sail on the Rhine.
The city was founded in the Middle Ages at the turn of the Rhine, where ships were reloaded. It quickly became an important trading center belonging to the local Benedictine monastery. The fortress of Munot, standing on a hill, was also built at that time. It is the most recognizable building in Szafuza and a great vantage point. Around the castle are Munot's Rose Garden and vineyards.
The Old Town of Schaffhausen was mistakenly bombed by the Allies during World War II. However, they were rebuilt with attention to detail, including the recreation of painted tenement houses in the center. One of them is the beautifully decorated Knight's House. The former Romanesque-Gothic Benedictine monastery with the All Saints Museum and the 11th-century All Saints Cathedral are also of great value.
The attractions of Szafuzy also include river cruises on the Rhine and the possibility of taking excursions to the surrounding vineyards. This can be done both by car and by bike. On the outskirts of the city there is a farm with fallow deer, which is often visited by families with children.
