Open-Air Museum Unteruhldingen
Local name: Pfahlbauten Unteruhldingen
It is an archaeological open-air museum on the lake. The facility consists of the reconstruction of houses on stilts from the Bronze and Stone Age. The exhibits included in the exhibition are in the range of 4000 to 800 years BC. The object borders the oldest nature reserve in the region.
The open-air museum is divided into several sightseeing zones, depending on the origin and type of exhibition presented. The first is the Village of Schussenried depicting the Stone Age, where visitors can take part in workshops and use the Lake Dwelling cinema.
The next parts of the object, the Village of Buchau and Unteruhldingen, present the Bronze Age. Here tourists have the opportunity to experiment with tools, get to know the workshop of Potter and the Bronze Founders, the home of the Shepherd or Chief of the Village. The life of village residents was also reconstructed 3000 years ago, mainly with the help of models and found exhibits from that period.
The next areas of the open-air museum are the House of Questions, where visitors can answer the most popular questions about the life of the lake inhabitants, the Town Hall, special trails and buildings of the Museum itself presenting the rest of the excavations using colored illustrations and projections.
