Schleiden is a city that has changed its nationality many times in the past. Despite major war damage, several interesting monuments have been preserved here, including the Romanesque church of St. Roch and the castle.
In the Middle Ages, the city was the capital of an independent state, and then belonged to Luxembourg for many centuries. The oldest monument is the Church of St. Roch with a Romanesque shape. You can also see the Gothic-Renaissance Schleiden Castle with the castle church standing nearby.
On the hills above the city rises Schleiden's biggest attraction, Vogelsang IP. It is a former Nazi training center that has now been turned into a museum and exhibition center. You can see exhibitions on the Nazi movement in Germany and World War II. There is also the Red Cross Museum on its premises.
