This is a museum of modern German history. The permanent exhibition presents the history of the country since 1945. The museum also runs a cartoon gallery with a collection of over 75,000 political cartoons and caricatures.
The exhibition aims to allow the visitor to experience history on their own skin. Visiting is made more attractive thanks to historical film and sound recordings and the opportunity to confront your past in the part of the exhibition on the Federal Republic of Germany and the GDR. The creators of the exhibition also emphasize its contribution to encouraging visitors to establish intergenerational dialogues.
The museum hosts numerous lectures and scientific conferences. You can also expand your knowledge here through the museum library and information center.
The building itself was built in 1989, and its area is over 22,000 square meters.
