The Old Town Square is the oldest market square in Cologne. Its surroundings and construction suffered greatly during the Allied air raids during World War II. Post-war reconstruction created a new face of this place. Tenement houses are modeled on medieval ones, but have received modern touches and forms. There is also a statue of Jan von Werth and a former city well.
