Bendorf is a small town whose main attraction is Sayn Castle and the surrounding park.
The city has medieval roots and has been associated with Sayn Castle since the 14th century. It has existed in its present form since the 18th century. Inside you can see a preserved castle chapel. The representative rooms are currently used by the Museum of Decorative Cast Iron, which presents its exhibitions here.
Sayn Castle Park is situated around the residence. It is a landscaped park with a French garden and the extraordinary Butterfly Garden of Sayn Castle. Butterflies and other insects live in a greenhouse with conditions similar to those of a tropical forest.
In addition to the castle and its surroundings, the historic Sayner Hutte ironworks is a highlight of Bendorf. The 19th-century factory hall made of glass and metal is a valuable monument of industrial architecture.
