Tranekær is a small village on the island of Langeland, known mainly for its romantic castle surrounded by a park. There are also nice beaches and several picturesque gardens in its vicinity.
The island's biggest attraction is the castle in Tranekær. Initially gothic, it was rebuilt several times, and it gained its present appearance in the mid-19th century. The Souvenariet Memorial Museum, the castle windmill and the park are located next to the castle. The Medicinal Plants Garden in Tranekær is right next door.
To the north of the village, there are areas that are perfect for walking and cycling. There are several gardens here, such as Skovhaven, and monumental trees, including the Oehlenschlägers Beech. The sandy Lohals Beach is a popular bathing area. In turn, on the northern edge of the island there is the Hou lighthouse.
