Třeboň is a picturesque city in southern Bohemia, which boasts a Renaissance castle of the Rožmberk family as well as beautiful gardens and numerous ponds.
The town was founded in the 13th century and from the 15th century remained in the hands of the Rožmberk family. They built their palace here surrounded by beautiful gardens. Since the Middle Ages, fish ponds were also created around the village, which are currently one of the largest complexes of this type in the Czech Republic. In addition to the palace, Trzeboń also has a nice Old Town with a large market square surrounded by picturesque tenement houses with baroque facades and the remains of defensive walls.
The city's surroundings belong to popular recreational areas due to the large number of walking and cycling paths. One of them leads through the Red Mud bog, while on Lake Rožmberk you can relax on several beaches. Trzeboń is also famous for the Regent brewery opened in the second half of the 13th century, whose historic part can be visited.
