Lipno Dam

The Lipno reservoir is a dam lake on the Vltava River in the southern part of the Czech Republic. It has an area of over 4,800 hectares. A power plant operates in the dam. The tank is also used for recreational purposes.

The artificial lake is located in a nice, hilly area. On its banks there are several water equipment rentals. There are also public beaches as well as campsites and guesthouses. The reservoir is sometimes called the "Czech Sea" and is a very popular holiday destination. You can also fish here. Cruise ships run on the surface of the lake. Nearby is also the smaller Lake Lipno II which is an expansion tank for the main reservoir.
