Plovdiv is Bulgaria's second largest city after Sofia. Located on seven hills, it boasts a nicely preserved old town from the time of Ottoman rule and ruins of buildings from Roman times.

The city is considered one of the longest inhabited places in Europe. The first traces of settlement date back to around 4000 BC and can be found on the Nebet Tepe hill. It offers a beautiful view of the city and its surroundings.

Below is the old town. It is made of cobbled streets with houses characteristic of Ottoman times. They have upper floors in front of them and are painted in different colors. Today, many of them have restaurants and cafes on the ground floor.

The shady streets of the streets hide the ruins of a Roman theater, which is meticulously restored and is still used to organize performances and concerts. A little further you can find the remains of the ancient stadium, which are now incorporated into cafes and service facilities, while the sixteenth-century mosque is next to it.

In addition to the old center of Plovdiv, social life also flourishes. Due to the university operating here, there are many young people. Bars and cafes are full in the evenings, and on the walls you can see quite a lot of murals, many of which have quite a lot of artistic value.
