The TV tower stands at the top of the hill of the same name, at an altitude of 1926 m above sea level. It was built of concrete and steel in the years 1973-1978. It has a cylindrical shape and is 156 m high. The building is included in the list of 100 tourist attractions in Bulgaria.
In the lower part of the tower, there are technical devices ensuring TV signal transmission in the area. On its highest level, there is an observation deck and a panoramic restaurant that offers a 360-degree view of the surroundings. From it you can see the Rhodope, Pirin and Rila mountain ranges. In nice weather you can also see the Aegean coast.
The tower can be reached by car or one of the chairlifts. Two ski lifts lead to the top of the mountain in summer and four in winter.
