Romanshorn is a tourist destination and one of the largest harbors on Lake Constance. There are interesting museums of technology and a swimming pool.
The city was founded in the 8th century and belonged to the monastery in St. Gallen. It was a trade and craft center, and due to its location also an important port. Nowadays it is also used for tourist purposes. Cruise ships depart from here, as well as ferries that can take you to many places on Lake Constance.
The most important attractions of Romanshorn are related to technical monuments. It is home to the Autobau Erlebniswelt motor museum, which displays the car collection of racing driver Fredy Lienhard, and the Locorama museum at the historic railway station. In the former port buildings, the Port Museum shows the history of shipping on Lake Constance.
During the holiday season, Romanshorn turns into a leisure center. There is a lakeside promenade and many walking and cycling routes around. The Romanshorn bathing beach with several swimming pools, sunbathing areas and entertainment facilities is very popular.
