Constanta is located in the center of the Romanian Black Sea Riviera, whose most famous center is located in the suburbs of the city of Mamaia. Nice Art Nouveau and eclectic buildings from the beginning of the 20th century with the Casino standing on the promenade have been preserved here.

The city was founded in the 6th century BC as a Greek colony and in ancient times was called Tomis. In Roman times it was an important port and experienced a period of enormous heyday. The remnants of these bright times are preserved to this day magnificent Roman mosaics that can be admired in a specially built pavilion.

After a period of prosperity during Roman and Byzantine times, the city was taken over by the Turks for several hundred years. Until the nineteenth century, it was one of many administrative centers that did not stand out from the rest. It was only the construction of the port and the joining of Dobrogea to Romania in 1878 that brought a change.

In the newly created Romania, Constanta quickly became the most important port, and also began to gain as a seaside resort. At the beginning of the 20th century, an Art Nouveau casino was built on the promenade, which can be admired to this day. In the city center, a reminder of the Turkish rule is the 18th-century mosque, but next to it is the Orthodox Cathedral.

Konstanty's life is focused on the coast today. There is a waterfront with numerous bars, cafes and restaurants. In its vicinity you can find urban, sandy beaches. However, most sunbathers choose much better developed resorts on the outskirts of the city, such as Mamaia or Eforie Nord, to which the fame of healing mud used in the spa attracts.
