The historic mosque was built in 1910-1912. Its architecture shows elements of the neo-Byzantine, neo-Egyptian and neo-Romanesque styles. The temple's design, by George Constantinescu, was modeled on the Konya mosque in Anatolia, Turkey. Its dome is 25 meters high and 8 meters in diameter.
Bricks and stones were used to build the temple, and reinforced concrete was used to finish the dome and minaret. It was the first building in Romania to use reinforced concrete. In turn, marble and bronze elements were used to finish the interior.
The minaret is 47 meters high. In its inner cage there are stairs with 140 steps leading to the muezzin house, from where the hour of prayer was announced in the past.
