Scicli is a historic seaside town in Sicily and a popular resort on its south coast. There are plenty of golden sandy beaches in the area, and the center of Scicli has an undeniable charm thanks to old tenement houses and baroque church facades.
The Scicli architecture climbs steep rocky slopes from the sea. The higher the streets are, the narrower they are, and only stairs lead to many houses. Some of the buildings look stuck to the rock. It has its charm and allows you to delve into the historic district, getting to know it without a map and finding beautiful, historic places.
The most famous monuments of Scicli are the Church of San Bartolomeo and the Church of Santa Maria Della Consolazione. Above are two 18th-century mansions surrounded by gardens, Palazzo Bonelli and Palazzo Spadaro. On the hill above them is the Santa Croce viewpoint from which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the coast.
The beaches of Scicla are a great attraction. Most of them are covered with golden sand, perfect for relaxation. The best developed beaches are Sampieri and Cava dAliga. There is a possibility to rent beach equipment, there are bars and sports fields. It is much quiet on the Donnalucata beach, which is eagerly chosen by people vacationing with children, while Costa di Cargo and Playa Grande are places for people who prefer to relax without amenities and in contact with nature.
