Schramberg is a town situated in a picturesque mountain setting. In its vicinity, there are ruins of medieval castles, and in the city itself there are several interesting museums related to technology.
The city developed from the end of the 13th century, but the area was already inhabited in Roman times. This is evidenced by the ruins of a Roman fort that can now be visited. From the Middle Ages, the city was mainly a local trade and craft center, and in the second half of the 19th century, the production of watches began here.
After World War II, automotive plants were established in Schramberg, which produced cars based on American technologies. The World Automotive and Clocks Museum, the Steim Car Collection and the Diesel Museum allude to these traditions.
The ruins of several medieval castles stand in the hills around Schramberg. The most important of these are the Hohenschramberg Castle Ruins and the Schilteck Castle Ruins. The Hausle viewpoint is also a good place for excursions. In turn, family entertainment is provided by the Schidów Adventure Farm, where there is a mini zoo, a small amusement park and the opportunity to get to know rural life.
