FREIBURG IM BREISGAUGermany
Bertolds Fountain
Local name: Bertoldsbrunnen
The fountain unveiled in 1965 is the most important work in the output of the German sculptor Nikolaus Röslmeir (1901-1977). It replaced the fountain destroyed during World War II from 1807. Both were dedicated to the memory of Berthold III (1110-1188), the founder of the city of Freiburg.
