Puteaux is a town within Paris that belongs to the modern district of La Defense. There is a large financial center and the seat of many companies. The symbol of the district is the Great Arch.

Puteaux has its origins in the Middle Ages. However, its development fell only in the twentieth century. Then the areas in the north and west of Paris experienced a rapid urbanization process. New housing estates were established here, and soon the expanding capital absorbed the towns on the outskirts one after another.

At the end of the 1950s, construction of the La Defense district began. Two-thirds of its area is within Puteaux. The finance and office center is centered around La Defense Square, on which the Great Arch stands. You can enter its interior and enter the observation deck. You can see from here, among others Arc de Triomphe on the Champs Elysees.

The Promenade of General de Gaulle begins from the square. This is the main street of La Defense with numerous boutiques. The street is shaded by trees with benches underneath. The largest shopping center in the district is the Quatre Temps Shopping Center on the main square, where there are 230 stores and over 50 restaurants.
