Avenue Champs Elysees is a representative street of Paris stretching from the Zgody Square to the Arc de Triomphe. There are elegant boutiques, restaurants and hotels. The Champs Elysees are the site of the famous military parade on July 14, during the Christmas period they are beautifully decorated with thousands of light decorations.
The avenue was marked out in the 17th century on the site of former arable fields and gardens. Until 1828 it was outside the administrative borders of Paris. It was then a popular walking promenade. After the Champs Elysees were incorporated into the city, their rapid development began. Classicist and eclectic tenement houses rise on both sides of the street. Currently, they house mainly hotels, restaurants and expensive shops. Rents in the Champs Elysees are among the highest in the world.
