Tux is an alpine village within the known ski region of the Ziller Valley. Skiing is possible all year round on the nearby glacier, and the regular season lasts from September to May.
The Tux-Finkenberg ski area around Tux includes slopes between 1,300 and 3,250 m above sea level. Some of the routes have been marked out on the Hintertux Glacier, and these are also open in summer. In the upper part of the slopes there is a complex of Natur Eis Palast with an ice cave, whose corridors run under the ski slopes. In addition, tourists can enjoy snow parks, cross-country ski runs and freeride routes.
In the summer, in turn, the whole area is an ideal place for lovers of active tourism. The Zillertaler Alpen nature park allows you to enjoy alpine fauna and flora up close. In the Tux region, 350 km of hiking trails and 800 km of MTB routes of varying difficulty have been marked out. There are also slopes for downhill bikes and tracks for high-performance cycling.
Surroundings of Tux are also willingly visited by climbing enthusiasts. In addition to typical climbing routes, there are also via ferratas of various levels of difficulty, from very easy to requiring extensive experience and skills of self-insurance.
Tux and the entire Zillertal region are advertised as a great place for a family holiday. In addition to areas for recreation and active leisure, there are also active amusement parks such as Gletscherflohpark and Play Arena.
