Ramsau am Dachstein is a mountain resort in the Alps situated at the foot of a glacier, with year-round ski runs. It is a world-renowned winter sports resort, Austria's best via ferrata location, and a training center where riders from all over the world come to practice their classic skiing skills.
The area around Ramsau am Dachstein offers great conditions for cross-country and downhill skiing in winter. There are over 200 km of cross-country ski runs and numerous ski slopes. There is a year-round ski area with approx. 20 km of slopes on the Dachstein Glacier. The glacier itself is one of the highlights of Ramsau am Dachstein. Hiking tours are organized all year round. There is the Dachstein viewing platform and a small glass platform called Stairway to Nowhere. Visiting the glacier area also includes the Dachstein Ice Palace, which is open all year round.
There is a large training center for classic skiers in Ramsau am Dachstein. There are also ski jumps here, on which teams from all over the world train, and in the vicinity one of the few mammoth hills in the world, Kulm, was built.
The mountain surroundings of Ramsau am Dachstein are attractive in all seasons. In summer, on the plateau and the surrounding mountains, you can use 20 via ferrata roads, which guarantee not only beautiful views, reaching as far as Slovenia or the Czech Republic, but also adrenaline jumps and the ability to safely overcome climbing routes. There are also several hundred kilometers of hiking trails, both in the valleys and in the higher parts of the mountains, as well as climbing routes intended for people with appropriate equipment and skills.
Both in summer and winter, Ramsau am Dachstein offers tourists a huge range of entertainment and leisure opportunities. In winter, you can take part in sleigh rides, snowshoe hiking, and a toboggan run. Spa and fitness centers operate all year round. In summer, in turn, you can ride mountain bikes, roller skis, use the Rittisberg Amusement Park or numerous outdoor and adventure activities.
