Ehrwald is a small but very dynamic holiday resort in Austrian Tyrol. It lies at the foot of the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain and is a good base for active tourism in both winter and summer.
In winter, there are several ski stations in the town and its vicinity, which offer a total of 65 km of ski runs of varying difficulty. There are also about 100 km of cross-country ski runs in the whole valley, of which a large part runs at an altitude of 1500 m above sea level. There is also a snow park, as well as toboggan and ice tracks. All this together with good accommodation and catering infrastructure makes Ehrwald a good place for winter recreation.
In turn, in the summer the main attraction of the area is the possibility of hiking and climbing. Several marked hiking and walking paths pass through here, including a section of one of the longest Austrian routes, Adlerweg. The most experienced tourists have routes leading to the Zugspitze, and people who do not like climbing too long can get to the top by cable car.
