CRAWLEY tourist attractions

+3 attractions

Crawley is a large industrial city on the outskirts of London. Gatwick Airport is located here, and a good connection to the capital makes the city a home base.

Although the city has medieval roots, there are almost no monuments from that period in its buildings. Several Gothic churches have survived in the outskirts of districts, which were previously separate towns. In the center of Crawley, on the other hand, you can see some Victorian buildings. Most of the city, however, is a modern, planned post-war development. This is due to the fact that after World War II, Crawley was selected as one of the so-called New Cities, which was built from scratch with the planning of communication routes, housing estates and recreational areas.

Today Crawley is, on the one hand, a large center of industry and new technologies, and on the other hand, a place eagerly chosen by people working in London for housing. The atmosphere of the city is very friendly, there is also a lot of greenery in it. Among the recreational and park areas are Tilgate Park, Memorial Garden, Worth Park Gardens and the gardens surrounding the Victorian Goff's Park estate.
