COLWYN BAY tourist attractions

+1 attraction

Colwyn Bay is a coastal resort town on the Welsh coast. It has a nice sandy beach, Victorian architecture and lots of recreational areas, including parks and golf courses that encourage active relaxation.

The city developed from the 13th century. as a fishing and trading center, but never of much importance in the region. However, in the 19th century, the first tourists started coming here. The sandy beach and nice surroundings have made the resort a popular holiday destination. At that time, a promenade was built, which is still the main walking avenue, guesthouses and a pier, which were pulled down in 2018 due to poor technical condition.

Colwyn Bay's beaches are sandy but quite narrow. The most popular of them is right on the promenade. In summer you can rent beach, recreational and swimming equipment here. There are many restaurants and bars around.

In addition to the beach and summer entertainment, the resort also offers many opportunities to spend time. The biggest attraction of Colwyn Bay is the Welsh Mountain Zoo. Here you can see many species of endangered animals from around the world, including snow leopards, tigers, red pandas and chimpanzees.

There are also plenty of recreational areas in the city and on its outskirts. The most important of them is Eirias Park with gardens and sports fields, a stadium and playgrounds for children. You can also stroll through Queen's Park and Queen's Garden. There is a large golf course on the outskirts of town.
