Zug is a historic town on the lake of the same name. Its symbol is the Zyt clock tower, from which you can admire the panorama of the area and the late-gothic town hall, which is one of the most beautiful in Switzerland.

The city was founded in the 13th century by the von Kyburg family. It was an important center of trade on the route from Zurich to Italy. Its Old Town has preserved the layout dating back to the Middle Ages. Most of the tenement houses and other buildings located here come from the 15th and 16th centuries.

The most famous building in Zug is the Zyt Tower with the Astronomical Clock on top. The Gothic churches of St. Michael and St. Oswald. The 13th-century Zug Castle, which now houses a museum, has also been preserved in the city.

With a long and rich history, Zug boasts some interesting museums such as the Prehistory Museum, the Fisheries Museum and the Art Gallery. Its attraction is also the port from which you can go on a cruise on the lake. In summer, the Zug beach operates on the shores, and the promenade is the main walking area for locals and tourists.
