Royal Castle in Stockholm, the official royal residence in Gamla Stan (Old Town). Used by the current king during official visits and celebrations, made available to visitors during the absence of the monarch. One of the tourist attractions is the changing of the guard and the royal guards parade accompanied by a military orchestra.
The castle stands on the ruins of the Three Crowns stronghold, which burned down in 1667, and the memorial museum was placed in the cellars of today's building. There is also one of the oldest museums in Europe, made available to the public in 1794. Noteworthy is the Royal Armory with a magnificent collection of not only weapons, but also exhibits depicting the history of the royal family and Sweden. Additional attractions for children are the disguises of kings, princesses and knights.
