The Royal Armory, which is located in the basement of the Royal Palace in Stockholm. It is officially the oldest museum in Sweden founded by Gustav II Adolf in 1628. Today we will find there works of art and everyday objects belonging to the royal family for five centuries.
The genesis of this museum is interesting. The king wanted to save for posterity his costumes from the war campaign carried out in Poland and put them in the royal armory. Today, we can admire many more souvenirs there, including the unusual ones: the stuffed horse Streiff belonging to King Gustav II Adolf or the oldest exhibit in the museum, i.e. the helmet with the plume of Gustav Vasa. One of the most valuable monuments is the armor of Zygmunt August. And although there are artistic and everyday objects in the museum, the ones looted in Poland during Swedish invasions arouse great interest.
